Lansdowne - Creative Learning Teacher

Lansdowne School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, effective practitioner to this new role: a team member who is able to enthuse disengaged learners and ensure their progress through the teaching and co-ordination of creative subjects.

The successful candidate will have experience of effective teaching and learning, primarily in Design Technology, and will demonstrate a proven track record of meeting the specific needs of learners and supporting them to reach their full potential. Other subject specialisms and interests might include Art, Textiles, Ceramics, Drama etc.

You will be expected to plan and deliver lessons that have a positive impact on the engagement and self-esteem of the young people resident. You will also be able to identify where there is need for additional intervention through the establishment of a regular programme of monitoring attainment.

Lansdowne School has an excellent reputation; it is part of Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home that makes provision for up to 7 young people. The school provides a positive learning experience for vulnerable young people, aged 11-17, who go on to make excellent progress. The school was judged to be an Outstanding provision in 2017.

You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team; Lansdowne is a supportive working and learning environment where professional development is highly valued and where practice is consistently reviewed to ensure the young people receive the best possible opportunities. The school is part of the broader Sabden Multi Academy Trust, which makes provision for children and young people with severe and complex social, emotional, mental health difficulties (SEMH) in East Sussex.

An understanding of the THRIVE Approach would be beneficial.

Applicants from either primary or secondary phase would be welcome.

For the correct candidate this full time post offers the potential for development of a TLR once the role is established.

Closing date is 26th April 2018

Interviews will be held on 3rd May.
