Urgent Update: St Mary’s School - Partial School Closure on Thursday 25th June

I am writing to inform you that due to the ongoing exceptional weather and extreme heat, SABDEN Multi Academy Trust has made the decision to implement a partial closure tomorrow, Thursday 25th June in all of its schools.

Tomorrow, all pupils who are in school will be provided with lunch. Following this, they will be collected at 12:30 to return home – all transport providers have been informed. Please ensure someone is available to receive your child at this earlier time, or if you collect please do so at 12:30.
This arrangement is in addition to the measures outlined in our previous communication. As a reminder, any parents or carers who have chosen to keep their children home today, or who wish to do so tomorrow due to the extreme heat, will have these absences fully authorised.
We are continuing to monitor the weather forecast closely for Friday. We will send out further updates via email tomorrow if any further adjustments to the school day are required.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and cooperation during this period of unprecedented weather.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Murphy
Principal

As the Headteacher of our vibrant and inclusive community, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all our students, parents, carers, and visitors. At St Mary's, we believe in celebrating the unique qualities and strengths of every individual, which is why we place a strong emphasis on embracing and celebrating neurodiversity.

Our Commitment to Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is the recognition that neurological differences are to be respected as any other human variation. At St Mary's School, we are committed to creating an environment where every student feels valued and supported. We understand that every child learns differently and we are dedicated to providing the resources and support necessary for each student to thrive.

Our Approach

  • Inclusive Curriculum: We offer a flexible curriculum that caters to different learning styles and needs. Our teachers are trained to adapt their teaching methods to support all students.
  • Supportive Environment: We have a range of support services available, including specialist staff, to assist students with additional needs.
  • Community Engagement: We encourage collaboration between staff, parents, and the wider community to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
  • Celebrating Differences: Throughout the school year, we host various events and activities that celebrate neurodiversity, raising awareness and understanding among students and staff.

Get Involved

We invite parents and carers to be active participants in our school community. Your insights and support are invaluable as we work together to create a nurturing environment for our students.

Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to welcoming you to St Mary's School and to a year filled with learning, growth, and celebration.

Warm regards,

Paul Murphy
