Frank Stanford (1956-2023)
Frank Stanford, former CEO of The SABDEN Multi-Academy Trust passed away on Saturday the 25th of February 2023.
Frank dedicated his life to education, championing pupils with social and behaviour difficulties firstly as a PE teacher, Senior Leader, Head teacher, Executive Head teacher and CEO. Frank became Head teacher of Cuckmere House School in 1992 and led its transformation into an inspirational SEMH school which has maintained its ‘outstanding’ status for 18 years and has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of individuals.
Frank founded The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust in 2015 and grew the Trust to five schools with the opening on The Workplace in 2020. Frank was a National Leader in Education and served as an HMI Inspector before semi-retiring and supporting the new CEO as a Consultant and Trustee since September 2021.
Frank’s vision to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe, was developed in his early years of teaching and remains at the heart of the Trust to this day. Frank was a vocal champion and advocate for vulnerable children and young people and was a pioneer in developing relationship based approaches to supporting pupils in SEMH settings. Frank will be warmly remembered by colleagues, pupils both past and present, and all those who worked with him.
