Welcome

A very warm welcome to our new special school on the Isle of Sheppey. I was born in Minster and feel a close connection with the island and its strong community. It is a real honour to be opening the first special school on Sheppey.

The new school will eventually serve up to 120 secondary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, some with associated autism spectrum conditions or social communication difficulties. Once established, we will also offer outreach services for local schools and their pupils.

We are delighted to announce that the new school has been named ‘Nore Academy’. This name reflects the local geography of the area with the Nore sandbank at the mouth of the Thames. The word Nore also has links to rays of light and hope -we hope Nore Academy will become an anchor of inclusive, high quality education on the Isle of Sheppey which will benefit our pupils, their families and the wider community.

We are running a consultation in June and July 2023 so please engage with the events and online survey to have your say.
