The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe. We are three special schools, a large countywide alternative provision and a vocational free school within East Sussex. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement.  Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

The Workplace is an aspirational and innovative Alternative Provision Free School in East Sussex which opened in September 2020. The Workplace provides industry relevant education for students in year 9-11 which is high quality, based on partnerships and focussed on enterprise. It offers students a strong grounding in Maths, English, Science and Enterprise alongside quality provision in one of six vocational areas (Hairdressing & Barbering, Hospitality & Catering, Multi-trades construction, Automotive, Sports & Fitness and Arts & Creativity).

Students who access The Workplace come from across East Sussex and have been identified as at being at risk of disengagement and suspension from their commissioning school. We have high expectations of students via Workplace standards, to suitably prepare them for post-16 and the wider world of work. Staff work with employers across industry to ensure that classroom practice replicates the world of work and ensure students develop relevant skills and knowledge. Pastoral care is a critical part of the whole school curriculum.

We are seeking to recruit a Pastoral Lead for Maternity Cover. As the Pastoral Lead, you will be operating as an associate member of our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and you will have a key role in the pastoral systems of our school. You would act as Deputy Safeguarding lead, be the first point of contact for matters of attendance and individual student needs and take a whole school responsibility for the Professional strand of our Workplace standards.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and supportive person with a background in school pastoral roles, social care or safeguarding/attendance roles. They will be analytical, student focussed and able to communicate key information both in person and via electronic communication. They will have a clear understanding of statutory expectations around attendance and safeguarding. They will be sensitive, considerate and passionate about the needs of students and committed to ensuring high standards for all students.

The successful candidate will be joining a Trust and school that continues to be ambitious in its drive to improve outcomes for our students. You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team across SABDEN Alternative Provision and be part of a supportive working and learning environment, where your professional development is highly valued and your wellbeing is paramount.
