The SABDEN Teaching School is an alliance of special schools spanning a wide geographical area from Seaford, to Heathfield and spanning across to St Leonards-on-Sea.
"The school is highly valued by the local authority as a model of excellent practice. The partnership between this school, as part of the federation, and the local authority is very strong. The school and its staff provide training and an example of outstanding practice that is recognised at a national level through specialist school status." Ofsted 2012
Our schools operate in a variety of different contexts but our common ethos is collaboration to bring continuous educational excellence in our local area.
Cuckmere House School, which is located in Seaford, is the lead school for the Alliance. It became a National Teaching School in April 2014. In 2013 the Department for Education awarded us lead school status in the areas of Continuous Professional Development, Academies and Academy transition, and Initial Teacher Training and induction as a validation of our achievements in all of these areas.
Our Teaching School affords staff in our partner schools numerous opportunities, whether that be participating in exciting research and development projects, involvement in training the next generation of teachers, being an SLE and supporting other schools or being able to study for a Masters-level qualification.
The opportunities are limitless.
